GSO issued a notice on June 12, 2020, starting from MY 2025, all vehicles exported to the UAE must meet the following requirements:
1. Vehicle emission requirements
Before the GSO 42-2015 update of the emission requirements, all motor vehicles need to meet the Euro VI emission level requirements:
ECE R No. 49 Rev 6 "On Approval of Engine Gaseous Pollutants and Particulate Matter Emissions, Uniform Provisions for Compression Ignition Engines and Compulsory Ignition Engine Vehicles";
ECE R No. 83 Rev5 "Uniform Provisions on the Certification of Vehicle Pollutant Emissions and Engine Fuel Requirements"
2. Vehicle lighting requirements
All vehicles imported and sold to UAE countries must be equipped with front and rear fog lights.

Dear all motor vehicles manufacturers:
GSO would like to inform you that the following requirements have been received from ESMA to be applied on motor vehicles will be marketed in UAE:
“Referring to GSO Technical Regulation 42/2015 ”Motor Vehicles – General Requirements“, The United Arab Emirates announces the following national requirements:
1 - Vehicles emissions level:
All vehicles engines shall comply with Euro VI exhaust emissions pollution limits from the vehicles model year 2025 MY.
Until GSO above mentioned regulation is revised and amended, all manufacturers should comply with:
- ECE R No. 49 Rev 6:
Uniform provisions concerning the measures to be taken against the emission of gaseous and particulate pollutants from compression ignition engines and positive ignition engines for use in vehicles.
- ECE R No. 83 Rev 5:
Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the emission of pollutants according to engine fuel requirements.
2 - Vehicles lighting requirements:
Front and Rear fog lamps are mandatory for all vehicles which is importing or selling in UAE from vehicles model year 2025 MY.
